Postpartum Doula

"Too often, new mothers are left to their own devices to figure out how to mother when what they really need is to be mothered themselves.  They need someone to prepare nourishing food, run a soothing bath, look after the baby while they nap, and provide comfort, guidance, and reassurance about baby care."

Why hire a postpartum doula?

In the days, weeks, months, and up to a year after a baby is born, a postpartum doula offers the extra hands-on support that families need while adjusting to their new family dynamic. When mothers of newborns have special care at home, there is an increased probability of successful breastfeeding, and significantly lower the risk of postpartum depression and anxiety. The mother can better heal from birth, set up herself up for a postpartum period where she doesn't feel isolated, alone, or confused, and create space for a partner or family member to be hands-on who might otherwise not know how to help. You will always be met with respect, patience, active listening, empathy, and support.

Melanie Durham

"There is such beauty in having someone who is comforting, helpful, calm and just there for YOU during delicate postpartum time. Alyssa has been the "me" of the household so I can focus on bonding with my baby and recovering instead of running a household. She has been a godsend, helping prepare healthy food, cleaning up the house and supporting my breastfeeding journey and everything in between. I have gone out of my way to tell all pregnant women they not only need a postpartum doula, they need Alyssa!"
